Hello, I am a specialty dahlia grower and farmer-florist. My name is Jacqueline “Jaye” Barends and I am the owner and grower at Emerald Angel Dahlias in Manistee, Michigan. I use strictly organic methods for growing, as caring for our environment is important! I specialize in fresh cut Dahlias for weddings and events. Please come and see the Dahlias! Jaye’s Emerald Angel Dahlias
As the owner of Flowers by the Emerald Angel, in Fremont, Michigan, and as a Michigan Certified Florist, I loved to grow flowers for my shop. It was exciting to have something unique, long before Dahlias became so popular. Operating my shop seems such a long time ago, and a career ago, since now, in present day, I am now a Certified Financial Planner for a major investment firm. I have been growing dahlias for the past few years in my flower borders, and have loved them! After moving to Manistee to the home of my Fiancé, Dean Schalows Up North Rivers Lodge, in Manistee, Michigan. Here I have lots of space to grow and a willing partner that said "You can plant as many trees and flowers as you want" the floodgates were unleased! I joined the local garden club, spent time with lovely people that introduced me to the larger dahlias, and I was immediately smitten. We are turning our Air BNB and Hipcamp areas into dahlia heaven!
I am the founder of Michigan Dahlia Divas, a FaceBook Group for Dahlia Lovers sharing the joy of the dahlias we love and meeting all the wonderful dahlia enthusiasts is an exciting part of the dahlia world!
